What is Mercedes-AMG known for?
AMG was founded in 1967 by two former Mercedes engineers, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, in Großaspach — the three initials are the two surnames and the village. It tuned Mercedes cars independently for three decades before Daimler took majority control in 1999. The performance engines are still assembled at Affalterbach on the one-man, one-engine principle, with the builder's signature on the plate. The house character is torque, traction and a V8 noise nobody else quite manages.
AMG cars are easy to live with. The saloons and estates have real boots and back seats, the ride in its softest setting is genuinely comfortable, and the V8s pull from low revs so you rarely have to work them. The trade-off is fuel — nothing with an AMG V8 in it is economical — and the wider cars take concentration in a British lane. The G 63 is the exception to all of that: a ladder-frame off-roader that behaves like nothing else on the road.

What do I need to lease a Mercedes-AMG?
