What is the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 like to drive?
Softer than an AMG GT and firmer than an S-Class, which is exactly where a roadster should sit. The V8 has real character at low revs and a hard edge at the top, four-wheel drive means the power is usable on a damp morning, and rear-wheel steering makes it easy to place in a village. With the roof down and the windows up at 60mph there is very little buffeting, so conversation is still possible.

Airscarf blows warm air at neck level, the seats are heated, and the wind deflector cuts the draught behind the front seats. A dry March morning with the roof down and the heater on is one of the better ways to use this car.
Is the SL 63 a good wedding or prom car?
It photographs better than anything else we hold, because with the roof down there is nothing between the camera and the people in it. Four seats nominally, though the rear pair suit bags or a child rather than adults.
