Yes, we hire to UK businesses. A company can hire a performance or prestige car for a twelve-month term or longer, with more than one vehicle at a time if you need it, invoiced to the business with VAT shown separately. Business hire is also the usual route for anything longer than a few weeks.

Directors and business owners
A car for a weekend away, a summer, or the fortnight yours is off the road. Hired by the company, invoiced to the company, delivered to the office or to your home.
Client entertaining and hospitality
Collecting a client from an airport, a car for a race weekend or a golf day, something appropriate for a dinner in town. Delivered to the hotel, collected from wherever the day ends.
Film, television and commercial production
Picture cars, background vehicles, and cars for stills and campaign shoots — with standby days, unit base delivery and the awkward questions answered before the call sheet goes out.

How is business hire different from hiring as an individual?
The car and the service are identical. What changes is who the agreement is with, how it is paid, and how long it can run for: a company can hire by the month, whereas a longer hire in a person’s own name is handled case by case.

VAT and tax treatment depend on your circumstances and on how the car is used, and the position on a car is different from the position on a van. We are not accountants and nothing on this page is tax advice — ask yours. What we can say is that hire charges are invoiced with VAT shown separately, so the paperwork is what they will want to see.
By the month
Can a company hire a car by the month?
Yes, and it is the arrangement we would rather write. Monthly hire is quoted by the month rather than the day, arranged with the company rather than the driver, and set up properly before it starts. A month of hire is not a lease: no credit agreement, no balloon payment, no commitment past the period you book, and the car comes back to us at the end. We lease cars from our own fleet too — longer than a month, quoted separately with its own deposit, excess and mileage terms — so say which of the two you want and we will quote that one.
When it makes sense
- A director’s car for a season. Something appropriate for a few months without putting a six-figure asset on the balance sheet or into a three-year agreement.
- A stand-in while something is off the road. A rebuild, a restoration, a lengthy insurance claim, or a factory order that has slipped again.
- A visitor’s car. Somebody in from overseas for a month who needs the right car rather than whatever the airport desk has left.
- Trying one properly before you buy it. A month of real ownership tells you what a test drive never will, including whether it fits in your garage.
Mileage allowances on a monthly hire are set per month rather than per day and are published on each vehicle page, along with the per-mile rate beyond them. Hiring in a person’s own name for longer than a few weeks works differently in law from short-term hire, so we handle those personally rather than through this website — ask us and we will talk it through. Production hire
Do you supply cars for film and TV production?
Yes. We supply picture cars, background vehicles and cars for stills and commercial shoots, delivered to the unit base or straight to the location. Shoot days and standby days are quoted separately, and anything beyond normal road use — camera rigs on the bodywork, low-loader work, action driving — is agreed and specifically covered in advance, never on the day.
Shoot days, and the days either side
Tell us the shoot dates and, separately, any standby or hold days. They are quoted separately because they cost differently: a car sitting on a unit base all Tuesday is not the same as a car that works for four hours on Wednesday.
Whether the car is driven, or dressed and static
A hero car driven on camera, a background car parked in shot and a car dressed for a stills set are three different jobs with three different sets of conditions. Say which at the enquiry stage.
Anything beyond normal road use
Camera mounts or rigs on the bodywork, low-loader and tracking-vehicle work, action or precision driving, running on private land or a closed road: all of it has to be agreed and specifically covered in advance. We will not agree it on the day, and we would rather tell you that now than on set.
Continuity across days, and matched cars
If a scene needs the same car across non-consecutive days, or two of the same car in the same colour, that is a sourcing question and it needs asking early. Registration plates on our own cars are obscured in photography as standard.
Location, unit base and access
We deliver to the unit base or straight to the location. Low cars, cobbles, gravel, height barriers and residential parking restrictions are all worth flagging in advance.
Who drives it, and who is insured to
Only a driver named on the agreement and accepted for that vehicle can drive it — that includes cast. If you need someone from us to deliver, stand by and handle the car for the day, ask, and it is quoted separately rather than assumed.
What we need on the enquiry
- Production name and company, and who is signing.
- Shoot dates, plus standby or hold days, marked separately.
- Location and unit base, with any access constraints.
- The exact car, or the character of car you are matching to.
- Whether it is driven on camera, driven off camera, or static.
- Who drives, and whether they are on the agreement.
- Anything being attached to, or filmed from, the vehicle.
What we will not agree to on the day
Rigs bonded or suction-mounted to paintwork, tracking-vehicle and low-loader work, action or precision driving, running on private land or a closed road, and any driver who is not named on the agreement. None of that is a no — all of it is a conversation we need to have in advance so it can be agreed and covered properly. A production that tells us at the enquiry stage generally gets a yes.
We do not publicise what we supply or to whom. Discretion is part of the job.
How does invoicing work?
- Invoiced to the company
- The invoice is raised to the business, not the driver, with VAT shown separately and a purchase order number on it if your process needs one.
- Terms agreed in writing first
- Payment terms are agreed before the first hire rather than assumed, and they are the same terms on the second one. Ask at the enquiry stage and you will have them in writing before you commit to anything.
- The deposit sits separately
- The refundable security deposit is not part of the invoice. It is held against a card in the named hirer’s own name for the duration of the hire and released after collection once anything owed is settled.
- Several cars, one agreement
- More than one vehicle goes on one agreement and one invoice, with a named driver against each car. Tell us the numbers early: several cars starting together is a sourcing question as well as an availability one.
- Repeat and standing arrangements
- If you hire regularly — a car every quarter, a run of production days, a rolling monthly arrangement — say so at the start. It changes how we hold dates for you and how the account is set up, and it is much easier to arrange up front than retrospectively.

Business hire: common questions
Can my company hire a car from Performance & Prestige?
Yes. We hire to UK limited companies, LLPs and other businesses. The agreement is with the company, a named driver is listed on it, and the hire is invoiced to the business with VAT shown separately. Give us the company name, the driver and the dates when you enquire and we will quote it on that basis.
Can a business hire a car for a month or more?
Yes, and business hire is the usual route for longer periods — they are the arrangements we would rather write. Monthly hire is quoted by the month rather than the day, arranged case by case, and set up properly first: the vehicle, the mileage allowance and the driver checks all have to be agreed before it starts. A month of hire is not a lease — no credit agreement, no balloon payment, and the car comes back to us at the end. We do lease cars from our own fleet as well, over a longer term and on separate terms; say which you want and we will quote that one.
Can I hire monthly as an individual rather than through a company?
Speak to us first. Hire to an individual that can run beyond three months is treated differently in law from short-term hire, so we handle those personally rather than taking them through this website. Hires of a day, a weekend or a week are unaffected.
Is monthly hire a lease or a finance agreement?
Neither. Monthly hire is vehicle hire: no credit agreement, no balloon payment, no early termination charge on a finance balance and no commitment beyond the period you book. The car is ours and it comes back to us. We do lease cars from our own fleet as well, which is a longer arrangement quoted on its own terms — tell us which of the two you are asking about and we will quote that one.
Can we reclaim the VAT?
That depends on your business and on how the car is used, and VAT on car hire is restricted differently from a van. We are not accountants and nothing on this page is tax advice — your accountant is the right person to ask. What we can tell you is that hire charges are invoiced with VAT shown separately, so the paperwork will be what they need.

Who is allowed to drive a company hire?

Adding or swapping a named driver is usually possible if you ask before the hire starts, not during it.
