A three-month lease — the shortest agreement we write

Three months is long enough to find out what a car is actually like and short enough that you are not deciding anything about next year. It covers a season — a summer, or a winter in something that copes with one — and it is the term people take when they want the car for a specific stretch of life rather than for the foreseeable future.

Three months is our minimum term: one month up front, then one a month, with 1,000 miles a month included as standard. It is a lease and not a hire — the car is delivered to an address you choose, it stays with you for the term, and the whole cost is agreed in writing before anything begins.

Cars in our own fleet

We own these, insure them and deliver them. The figure on each card is that car's price on our 3-month minimum. A longer term is quoted separately, because the term changes the figure.

What does a three-month lease cost?

The monthly figure published on each car’s own page is the figure on this term, because three months is the minimum and the minimum is what every published figure is quoted against. That makes this the one page on the site where the number you can already see is the number for the term in the title. A longer agreement is quoted separately and is normally lower per month, which is the whole argument for taking one.

Is three months a lease or a hire?

A lease. The car is delivered to your address and collected from an address you choose at the end, the agreement carries a mileage allowance, a deposit that is held rather than spent and a stated insurance excess, and the monthly payment runs on the 1+2 shape every other term uses — one month up front, then one a month. What we do not do is hire by the day, the weekend or the week, and three months is not a long version of that. It is the short version of a lease.

When is three months the wrong answer?

When you want the lowest monthly figure, because the cost of a car falls fastest in its first months and three of them is the least time to spread that over. And when you already know you want the car for the long run — committing to three and re-committing twice is more conversation and more paperwork than taking eighteen months at the outset. Tell us what the car is for and we will say which end of the ladder fits it.

Tell us the car and how long. We’ll confirm the figure.

The car you want, roughly how long, and the town you are in — that is all we need to start. Someone here comes back with the monthly figure and the whole cost, initial payment, deposit, excess and mileage included.
