Longer term
from £5,500 a month
We also lease this car. A lease is a longer commitment than a month of hire and is quoted separately, with its own deposit, excess and mileage terms — so the figures above do not carry across to it. The allowance starts at 12,000 miles a year; more than that is priced separately rather than charged as an excess at the end.
These figures are provisional
The deposit, the excess and the mileage terms for this car come from our catalogue data, and we are confirming that data with the insurer while the fleet is finalised. Read them as the shape of the terms rather than as a quotation. What binds is your written quote and your hire agreement, and we check the specific car against the specific driver before you plan around it.
The deposit is refundable and held against a card in the hirer's own name at handover — it is not taken online and it is not part of the rate. Deposits, excess and driver criteria
About the Mercedes-AMG G 63
Its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 makes 577bhp and 850Nm, reaching 62mph in 4.5 seconds, which is absurd for a 2.5-tonne box on a ladder frame with three locking differentials. Five seats and a 667-litre boot. We arrange this one through a vetted partner, so the rate is a guide until the car is confirmed.
A hand-built ladder-frame off-roader with an AMG V8 in the nose. Nothing else on the road looks or sounds like it, and it seats five with real luggage space.
At a glance
- 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, 577bhp, 850Nm
- 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, limited to 137mph
- Three locking differentials and a low-range transfer case
- Five seats and a 667-litre boot
- 12,000 miles a year included, then 125p per mile
What is the Mercedes-AMG G 63 like to drive?
Nothing like a modern SUV, which is the appeal. It sits on a ladder frame with a solid rear axle, so it leans in corners and thumps over sharp edges, and the driving position is upright and commanding rather than sporting. Then you use the throttle and the AMG V8 hurls two and a half tonnes to 62mph in 4.5 seconds with a noise that sets off car alarms. It is a comedy of an object and enormously good fun.
How much does it cost to hire a G Wagon in the UK?
Each day includes 150 miles, with extra miles at 125p. A £3,000 refundable deposit is held on a credit card at handover, and the insurance excess is £3,000. Driver minimum age for this car is 28.
Is the G 63 practical as a family or business car?
More practical than it looks. Five full seats, a 667-litre boot behind them, a high driving position and a cabin trimmed to the same standard as a Mercedes saloon. The one thing to plan around is the side-hinged rear door, which needs about a metre of clear space behind the car to open, so a tight multi-storey bay is not its friend. Fuel consumption in town is heavy.
Can the G 63 actually go off-road?
Genuinely, yes. It keeps the three locking differentials, low-range transfer case and 700mm wading depth that made the G-Class a military vehicle, which almost no rival still offers. Our hire terms require off-road, green-lane or beach use to be agreed in writing beforehand, because it is not covered as standard. Ask before you book rather than after.

These are insurance conditions for this vehicle, not preferences, so we check them when you enquire rather than on the doorstep.
Provisional. The age, licence period, points tolerance, deposit and excess above are being confirmed with the insurer while the fleet is finalised — read them as the shape of the criteria, not as a decision on your hire.
If you are under the minimum age for this car, or short on licence years, say so when you enquire. We will point you at something you can hire rather than let you find out on the day.

Questions about hiring the Mercedes-AMG G 63
How many seats does the Mercedes-AMG G 63 have?
Five, all usable by adults, with 667 litres of boot space behind the rear bench. It is one of the most practical cars we list, and the one we suggest when a group needs to travel together and still arrive in something memorable.
What age do you need to be to hire a G 63?
Twenty-eight or over, with a full licence held for at least three years and no more than six points. That is lower than our supercar criteria because the insurance profile is different. We confirm eligibility at enquiry, before anything is agreed.
Is the G 63 limited to 137mph?
Yes, electronically. The limit reflects the tyres and the aerodynamics of a shape drawn in the 1970s rather than any shortage of power. In practice it is irrelevant on a UK road, where the car's low-speed shove is the part you actually use.
