Three months, then month to month

Most people who ask for this are not asking for the shortest possible lease. They are asking not to have the conversation again on a date somebody else picked: they know they want the car, they do not know for how long, and an end date forces the decision whether or not they are ready to make it.

A rolling lease serves our three-month minimum and then continues month to month until you give notice, rather than ending on a set date. The first three months are an ordinary agreement — one month up front, then one a month, with 1,000 miles a month included — and what changes after them is that you stop having an end date and start having a notice period.

Cars in our own fleet

We own these, insure them and deliver them. The figure on each card is that car's price on our 3-month minimum. A longer term is quoted separately, because the term changes the figure.

How is this different from an agreement with an end date?

For the first three months it is not different at all — the same agreement, the same payment shape, the same allowance. The difference arrives at month three. An agreement with an end date ends there and the car is collected; this one continues month to month until one of us gives notice. You are choosing what happens at the end of the minimum, not what happens during it.

What does the rolling part cost?

It is repriced when it begins, and it is not the same number as the first three months. What a car is worth after a season of use is a different question from what it was worth when it left us, and it is not a question anybody can answer honestly months in advance. We quote the minimum term when you enquire and the rolling rate as that term comes to an end, with time to decide.

How much notice do I give?

It is set in your agreement and it is the thing most worth reading twice, because it is the only part of a rolling arrangement that can catch somebody out. Ask what it is before you sign rather than in the month you want to hand the car back.

Tell us the car and how long. We’ll confirm the figure.

The car you want, roughly how long, and the town you are in — that is all we need to start. Someone here comes back with the monthly figure and the whole cost, initial payment, deposit, excess and mileage included.
