A 36-month lease — three years, the lowest monthly figure

Three years is the term for somebody who has stopped shopping. You know the car, you know you want it for the long run, and you would rather pay less each month than keep the option to swap. It is also the term where the mileage allowance deserves the most attention, because three years of a life that changes is a lot of miles to have guessed at.

A 36-month lease is a three-year agreement: one month up front, then one a month, with 1,000 miles a month included. It is the longest term we write and the one with the lowest monthly figure, because the cost of the car is spread across more months than any shorter agreement.

Cars in our own fleet

We own these, insure them and deliver them. The figure on each card is that car's price on our 3-month minimum. A 36-month agreement is quoted separately, because the term changes it.

Why is 36 months the cheapest per month?

The same reason every longer term is cheaper: you are paying for the car’s fall in value across the months you hold it, and thirty-six months is the most months to spread it over. The gain over 24 months is real but it is the smallest step on the ladder — most of the saving has already happened by two years, so choose three because you want the car for three years, not because of the difference in the figure.

Three years is a long time. What about the mileage?

This is the term where the allowance matters most. A thousand miles a month is included, which is 36,000 across the agreement, and a job change or a house move partway through can put a serious number on the excess-mileage line. If your real week puts you nearer 1,700 miles a month, say so at the enquiry stage and we will price the extra in rather than let you meet it on a final invoice.

What happens at the end of three years?

The car is collected from an address you choose and the agreement ends. There is no balloon payment and nothing to settle if the car comes back in the condition it went out in, allowing for fair wear. If you want to go again, that is a new agreement on a new car rather than an extension of this one.

Tell us the car and how long. We’ll confirm the figure.

The car you want, roughly how long, and the town you are in — that is all we need to start. Someone here comes back with the monthly figure and the whole cost, initial payment, deposit, excess and mileage included.
