What is Lexus known for?
Toyota launched Lexus in 1989 with the LS 400, a car built to prove a Japanese manufacturer could out-engineer the German luxury establishment on refinement. It largely did, and the marque has been built on quietness and reliability ever since. The LC 500 is the outlier and the reason Lexus belongs on a performance list: a 471bhp naturally aspirated 5.0 V8 in an era when almost every rival has turbocharged, in a body that reached production looking very close to the concept.

What do I need to hire a Lexus?
Across the three Lexus cars on this page the minimum age is 25 to 28 and the minimum period of full licence held is 3 to 5 years, with a limit of 6 penalty points depending on the offence. A refundable security deposit of £2,500 to £5,000 is held for the hire and the insurance excess is £2,500 to £5,000. The criteria are set by the insurer rather than by us and they differ car by car, so each vehicle page states its own — and we check them with you before anything is confirmed.
