These figures are provisional

The deposit, the excess and the mileage terms for this car come from our catalogue data, and we are confirming that data with the insurer while the fleet is finalised. Read them as the shape of the terms rather than as a quotation. What binds is your written quote and your hire agreement, and we check the specific car against the specific driver before you plan around it.

The deposit is refundable and held against a card in the hirer's own name at handover — it is not taken online and it is not part of the rate. Deposits, excess and driver criteria

About the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance

It combines a hand-built 2.0-litre turbocharged four with an electric motor on the rear axle for 671bhp, and reaches 62mph in 3.5 seconds. Dates are confirmed with a partner before anything is committed.

A five-seat family SUV with 671bhp, a Formula 1-derived hybrid system and a four-cylinder engine assembled by one person.

At a glance

  • 671bhp combined from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four and a rear electric motor
  • 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds, top speed 171mph
  • 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with a fully variable torque split
  • Short electric-only range for quiet running in town
  • Five seats and a boot that takes a pushchair

How does a four-cylinder SUV make 671bhp?

It does not do it alone. The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is hand-assembled at Affalterbach and produces around 469bhp on its own, which is remarkable for its size. An electric motor on the rear axle supplies the rest, drawing on a small high-power battery designed for repeated bursts rather than long electric range. Combined output is 671bhp and 62mph arrives in 3.5 seconds.

Can you use it as a normal family car?

Yes, and that is most of the argument for it. It is a mid-size SUV with five seats, a raised driving position and a boot that takes a pushchair. The battery gives a short electric-only range, enough for a school run and a supermarket trip without the engine starting. Comfort mode softens the dampers and quietens the exhaust, and it becomes unremarkable until you ask it not to be.

What does it cost to hire?

A refundable £2,500 deposit and a matching insurance excess apply, and mileage is 12,000 miles a year with £1.50 a mile beyond that. The driver must be 25 or over with three years on a full licence.

Is it better than the old V8 GLC 63?

Faster and cleverer, quieter and less theatrical. The previous car used a 4.0-litre V8 and made a great deal of noise about it. This one is nearly a second quicker to 62mph and can leave a village in silence. Whether that counts as progress depends on what you wanted from an AMG in the first place.

These are insurance conditions for this vehicle, not preferences, so we check them when you enquire rather than on the doorstep.

Provisional. The age, licence period, points tolerance, deposit and excess above are being confirmed with the insurer while the fleet is finalised — read them as the shape of the criteria, not as a decision on your hire.

If you are under the minimum age for this car, or short on licence years, say so when you enquire. We will point you at something you can hire rather than let you find out on the day.

Questions about hiring the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance

Can you hire a Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 in the UK?

Yes, on a sourced basis. We arrange it through partners rather than supplying it ourselves, and we confirm a named car and your dates before anything is agreed.

Does the GLC 63 need charging?

No. The hybrid system recharges itself under braking and on the move, and it is built for repeated bursts of power rather than electric range. You can plug it in, but nothing about the car requires it.

How many people does it seat?

Five, with a boot large enough for a family weekend. It is the most practical car in this catalogue that still reaches 62mph in three and a half seconds.

How sourcing a car works

What does "in our fleet" mean?

It is our car. We own it, we insure it, we maintain it and we deliver it — we are the rental company, not a middleman. The rate shown is our rate and the availability is real.

What does "we can source" mean?

That car is not one of ours. We arrange it through a vetted partner, so the price shown is a guide and the availability is subject to confirmation. We confirm both with you before anything is agreed.

Why show cars you do not own?

Because the alternative is pretending we own them. Our own fleet is finite and the range people want is wider, so we list both and label which is which. You can see the full choice and know exactly what you are getting.

Is a sourced car more expensive?

Not necessarily, but its rate is a guide until the partner confirms it. We come back to you with the confirmed figure before you commit — the price never changes on the day.

Tell us the dates. We’ll confirm the car.

Send us the dates and a delivery postcode — that is all we need to start. Someone here will come back to you with what is genuinely available and the full cost, deposit, excess and mileage included.
