These figures are provisional
The deposit, the excess and the mileage terms for this car come from our catalogue data, and we are confirming that data with the insurer while the fleet is finalised. Read them as the shape of the terms rather than as a quotation. What binds is your written quote and your hire agreement, and we check the specific car against the specific driver before you plan around it.
The deposit is refundable and held against a card in the hirer's own name at handover — it is not taken online and it is not part of the rate. Deposits, excess and driver criteria
About the Lotus Emira V6
It uses a 400bhp supercharged 3.5-litre V6 mounted behind the seats, reaches 62mph in 4.3 seconds and runs to 180mph. It is the last petrol-engined sports car Lotus will build.
The Emira is the final combustion Lotus, and its hydraulic steering makes it one of the most communicative cars you can currently hire.
At a glance
- 400bhp 3.5-litre supercharged V6, mounted amidships
- 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds, 180mph top speed
- Hydraulically assisted steering, now almost unique
- Two seats, rear-wheel drive, around 1,450kg
- The last petrol-powered car Lotus will produce
What makes the Emira worth hiring?
The steering. Almost every modern car uses electric assistance; the Emira keeps a hydraulic rack, and the amount of information it sends back through the wheel is the whole reason to drive one. The supercharged V6 makes around 400bhp and reaches 62mph in 4.3 seconds, but the numbers are not the point. It makes an ordinary B-road feel like an occasion.
Is it usable for a weekend away?
More than any previous Lotus. The cabin has proper infotainment, comfortable seats and enough refinement for a motorway leg, and there is space behind the engine for two soft bags. It is still a low two-seater, so getting in and out takes a moment and the ride is firm on a poor surface. As a Friday-to-Monday car it works.
What does it cost to hire a Lotus Emira?
A refundable deposit near £3,000 and a matching insurance excess are typical, with 12,000 miles a year included and £2 a mile after that. Drivers need to be 25 or over with three years of full licence.
V6 or four-cylinder?
The car we source is the supercharged V6, which is the one enthusiasts ask for: more noise, more character, and an automatic gearbox that suits British roads. A turbocharged four-cylinder version exists and is quicker in a straight line in some specifications, but it is a different car in feel, and we will tell you which one we have found.

Provisional. The age, licence period, points tolerance, deposit and excess above are being confirmed with the insurer while the fleet is finalised — read them as the shape of the criteria, not as a decision on your hire.
If you are under the minimum age for this car, or short on licence years, say so when you enquire. We will point you at something you can hire rather than let you find out on the day.

Questions about hiring the Lotus Emira V6
Is the Emira the last petrol Lotus?
Yes. Lotus has positioned the Emira as its final combustion-engined sports car before the range moves fully electric, which is a large part of why people want to drive one now.
Can you take an Emira on a track day?
Only if it is agreed in advance. Standard self-drive hire agreements exclude circuit use, so track plans have to be raised at the enquiry stage and confirmed in writing with the supplying partner.
Is it a manual or an automatic?
The V6 we source is the automatic. Manual V6 cars exist and can be requested, but they are scarcer, so a manual booking needs more notice.
