Longer term

from £2,500 a month

We also lease this car. A lease is a longer commitment than a month of hire and is quoted separately, with its own deposit, excess and mileage terms — so the figures above do not carry across to it. The allowance starts at 12,000 miles a year; more than that is priced separately rather than charged as an excess at the end.

These figures are provisional

The deposit, the excess and the mileage terms for this car come from our catalogue data, and we are confirming that data with the insurer while the fleet is finalised. Read them as the shape of the terms rather than as a quotation. What binds is your written quote and your hire agreement, and we check the specific car against the specific driver before you plan around it.

The deposit is refundable and held against a card in the hirer's own name at handover — it is not taken online and it is not part of the rate. Deposits, excess and driver criteria

About the BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport

It makes 375bhp and reaches 62mph in 5.2 seconds. A specific car and your dates are confirmed with a partner first.

The sensible X5. 375bhp, four-wheel drive and the lowest monthly figure on a car this size.

At a glance

  • 375bhp 3.0 straight-six mild hybrid
  • 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds
  • Four-wheel drive, 8-speed automatic
  • 5 seats
  • Driver 25+, 3+ years on a full licence

How does this differ from the X5 M Competition?

It is a different car underneath. The M Competition is a 617bhp V8 built to go quickly; this is a 375bhp straight-six built to cover ground comfortably, and it costs a fraction as much to hire or to lease. For airport runs, client work and family weekends the 40i is the better buy and it is not close.

Is 375bhp enough in something this size?

Comfortably. 62mph arrives in 5.2 seconds, which is quicker than most hot hatches managed a decade ago, and the mild-hybrid system fills the gaps low down so it never feels like it is working. What you notice is refinement rather than pace, which is the correct priority for the job this car does.

What makes it a good monthly car?

It is the least expensive way here into a large, new, well-specified SUV on a rolling monthly arrangement. Two months upfront and then it runs month to month, so it suits a stay of uncertain length far better than a fixed two-year commitment would.

Does M Sport mean it is an M car?

No, and the distinction matters. M Sport is a trim: the body kit, the wheels, the seats and the steering wheel. The engine and the chassis are the standard xDrive40i. The M cars in this catalogue are the X5 M Competition and the M3, and they are a different proposition entirely.

Who can drive this car?

Minimum driver age 25 or over

Penalty points 6 or fewer
Refundable deposit £2,000
Insurance excess £2,000

These are insurance conditions for this vehicle, not preferences, so we check them when you enquire rather than on the doorstep.

Provisional. The age, licence period, points tolerance, deposit and excess above are being confirmed with the insurer while the fleet is finalised — read them as the shape of the criteria, not as a decision on your hire.

If you are under the minimum age for this car, or short on licence years, say so when you enquire. We will point you at something you can hire rather than let you find out on the day.

Questions about hiring the BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport

Can you hire a BMW X5 M Sport in the UK?

Yes, on a sourced basis. We arrange it through partners rather than supplying it ourselves, and we confirm a named car against your dates before anything is agreed.

Is the X5 M Sport the same as the X5 M?

No. M Sport is a trim level on the standard car; the X5 M Competition is a separate 617bhp model. This one has a 375bhp straight-six.

How many seats does the X5 M Sport have?

Five on this specification, with a large boot. Ask if you need the seven-seat layout and we will check what a partner can put against your dates.

Deposit, delivery and what a hire costs

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes. A refundable security deposit is held for the duration of the hire, separately from the rate. The amount is set per vehicle and shown on that car’s page and on your quote before you commit.

Is anything taken online?

No. No deposit and no payment is taken through this website. Nothing is charged until a person has confirmed the vehicle, the dates and your driver details with you.

How is the deposit held, and when do I get it back?

It is held against a card in the hirer’s own name — not a third party’s. It is released once the vehicle is back and checked and any charges are settled; we tell you the release timing in writing when you book.

What can be deducted from the deposit?

Miles over the included allowance, fuel or charge not replaced, damage up to the excess, and any penalty or congestion charge incurred during your hire plus the admin fee for handling it. Nothing else.

Tell us the dates. We’ll confirm the car.

Send us the dates and a delivery postcode — that is all we need to start. Someone here will come back to you with what is genuinely available and the full cost, deposit, excess and mileage included.
