These figures are provisional

The deposit, the excess and the mileage terms for this car come from our catalogue data, and we are confirming that data with the insurer while the fleet is finalised. Read them as the shape of the terms rather than as a quotation. What binds is your written quote and your hire agreement, and we check the specific car against the specific driver before you plan around it.

The deposit is refundable and held against a card in the hirer's own name at handover — it is not taken online and it is not part of the rate. Deposits, excess and driver criteria

About the BMW M8 Competition

It uses a 617bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and M xDrive with a selectable rear-drive mode, reaching 62mph in 3.2 seconds. We arrange it through partners, so the car and your dates are confirmed first.

A 617bhp twin-turbo V8 in a large, quiet coupe. The M8 Competition is built for covering distance rather than for chasing lap times.

At a glance

  • 617bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, 750Nm of torque
  • 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds
  • M xDrive all-wheel drive with a two-wheel-drive mode
  • Limited to 155mph, or 189mph with the M Driver's Package
  • Four seats, carbon roof, and a boot that takes real luggage

What is the M8 Competition like to drive?

Enormously fast and unusually relaxed about it. The V8 delivers its torque from just above idle, so overtaking needs no planning, and M xDrive puts it all down in British weather. Switch the system to rear-drive only and it becomes a different and considerably more demanding car. Most of the time you will leave it in four-wheel drive and enjoy how quietly it covers ground.

Is it a grand tourer or a sports car?

A grand tourer, and it is better for admitting it. At just over two tonnes it is not a car that shrinks around you on a narrow road. What it does is cross a country quickly and comfortably: firm ride, superb seats, quiet cabin, real boot. Think of it as the fastest way to arrive somewhere still feeling fresh.

How fast will it actually go?

155mph as standard, because BMW limits it there. Cars fitted with the M Driver's Package raise that to 189mph, and the package includes driver training for a reason. On a UK road neither figure matters; the 3.2-second 0-62 time and the mid-range pull are what you will notice.

What does it cost to hire an M8 Competition?

A refundable £5,000 deposit is held and the excess is £5,000. The allowance is 12,000 miles a year, then £2 a mile. All figures include VAT and are stated before you enquire.

These are insurance conditions for this vehicle, not preferences, so we check them when you enquire rather than on the doorstep.

Provisional. The age, licence period, points tolerance, deposit and excess above are being confirmed with the insurer while the fleet is finalised — read them as the shape of the criteria, not as a decision on your hire.

If you are under the minimum age for this car, or short on licence years, say so when you enquire. We will point you at something you can hire rather than let you find out on the day.

Questions about hiring the BMW M8 Competition

Can you hire a BMW M8 Competition in the UK?

Yes, on a sourced basis. We arrange it through a vetted partner rather than supplying it from our own fleet, and a specific car and your dates are confirmed before anything is agreed.

How many seats does the M8 Competition have?

Four. The coupe has two proper individual rear seats rather than a bench, and the boot is a usable size for a car of this shape.

Is the M8 Competition four-wheel drive?

Yes, through M xDrive, which is rear-biased and includes a mode that disconnects the front axle entirely. That mode also switches off the stability control, so it is for dry roads and experienced drivers.

How sourcing a car works

What does "in our fleet" mean?

It is our car. We own it, we insure it, we maintain it and we deliver it — we are the rental company, not a middleman. The rate shown is our rate and the availability is real.

What does "we can source" mean?

That car is not one of ours. We arrange it through a vetted partner, so the price shown is a guide and the availability is subject to confirmation. We confirm both with you before anything is agreed.

Why show cars you do not own?

Because the alternative is pretending we own them. Our own fleet is finite and the range people want is wider, so we list both and label which is which. You can see the full choice and know exactly what you are getting.

Is a sourced car more expensive?

Not necessarily, but its rate is a guide until the partner confirms it. We come back to you with the confirmed figure before you commit — the price never changes on the day.

Tell us the dates. We’ll confirm the car.

Send us the dates and a delivery postcode — that is all we need to start. Someone here will come back to you with what is genuinely available and the full cost, deposit, excess and mileage included.
