These figures are provisional
The deposit, the excess and the mileage terms for this car come from our catalogue data, and we are confirming that data with the insurer while the fleet is finalised. Read them as the shape of the terms rather than as a quotation. What binds is your written quote and your hire agreement, and we check the specific car against the specific driver before you plan around it.
The deposit is refundable and held against a card in the hirer's own name at handover — it is not taken online and it is not part of the rate. Deposits, excess and driver criteria
About the BMW i4 M50 xDrive
Two motors make 537bhp in Sport Boost, 62mph takes 3.9 seconds, and BMW quotes a WLTP range of up to around 318 miles with DC charging at up to 205kW. Dates are confirmed with a partner first.
BMW's electric M Performance four-door: 537bhp, all-wheel drive and a hatchback tailgate. Quick, quiet and easy to live with.
At a glance
- 537bhp from two motors in Sport Boost mode
- 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds, 140mph
- WLTP range of up to around 318 miles
- DC rapid charging at up to 205kW
- Five seats and a 470-litre boot under a hatchback tailgate
What is the i4 M50 like to drive?
Quick and composed rather than raw. The extra weight of the battery is obvious in direction changes, and BMW has tuned the chassis around it well enough that the car feels planted instead of heavy. Adaptive suspension is standard on the M50. In Sport mode the synthesised soundtrack is either a novelty or an irritation, and it can be turned off.
How far does the i4 M50 go on a charge?
BMW quotes up to around 318 miles on WLTP. A realistic motorway figure at 70mph in cold weather is well short of that, as with every electric car. Rapid charging peaks at 205kW, which puts a 10-80% top-up at roughly half an hour on a charger capable of delivering it.
Is the i4 practical?
More than it looks. The tailgate is a hatchback rather than a saloon bootlid, so the 470-litre boot takes bulky items that a 3 Series would refuse, and the rear seats fold. Rear headroom is tight for anyone over six foot because of the sloping roof. There is no front boot, so cables travel in the back.
What does it cost to hire an i4 M50?
A refundable £2,500 deposit is held and the excess is £2,500. The allowance is 12,000 miles a year with £1.50 a mile beyond. The car arrives charged and VAT is included throughout.

Provisional. The age, licence period, points tolerance, deposit and excess above are being confirmed with the insurer while the fleet is finalised — read them as the shape of the criteria, not as a decision on your hire.
If you are under the minimum age for this car, or short on licence years, say so when you enquire. We will point you at something you can hire rather than let you find out on the day.

Questions about hiring the BMW i4 M50 xDrive
Can you hire a BMW i4 M50 in the UK?
Yes, on a sourced basis. It is arranged through a vetted partner rather than supplied from our own fleet, and a specific car and your dates are confirmed before anything is agreed.
How fast is the BMW i4 M50?
537bhp in Sport Boost, 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 140mph. It is quicker to 62mph than the petrol M440i and considerably quieter doing it.
Is the i4 M50 a full M car?
No. It is an M Performance model developed by BMW M rather than a full M car like the M3 or M4, so it is tuned for pace and comfort rather than circuit use.
